Roermond - Vier Bands, 19 Muzikanten, Eén Challenge! De afgelopen maanden zijn vier Limburgse bands op de proef |

gesteld door het nieuwe TV programma “The Band Challenge”. Op zaterdag 24 mei 2008 zullen ze alles moeten geven in de finale show in de Azijnfabriek in Roermond. En jij kunt er bij zijn!
Binnenkort verschijnt op TV Limburg het programma The Band Challenge. In dit programma gaan vier bands de strijd met elkaar aan. De veelal beginnende bands moeten een aantal verassende opdrachten uitvoeren om zich zo te bewijzen als muzikant. Het programma wordt gepresenteerd door Joss Mennen (bekend van de Nederlandse rockband Mennen) en geproduceerd in de studio van Tv Ellef.
Na weken oefenen doken de bands de Pitstudio in weert in, waar een van te voren bepaald nummer moest worden opgenomen. Eenmaal in de studio aangekomen was er echter een onverwachte verassing voor de bands. Of alle bands zich uit de lastige situatie konden redden, dat kun je zien in The Band Challenge, dat deze zomer wordt uitgezonden op TV Limburg. Het programma wordt o.a. mogelijk gemaakt door Adams Drumworld.
De vier deelnemde bands zijn: Lavatory Lazy, grunge rock uit Meijel. High Speed Dirt, dirtrock uit Venlo. Break My Fall, metal rock uit Meijel en 2-Late, pop rock uit Venray.
In de laatste aflevering spelen de vier bands een live finale show. Bij deze finale show zullen ze worden beoordeeld door een professionele jury. Deze jury gaat kijken welke band er het beste uitspringt om een topformatie te worden. De jury bestaat uit enkele prominente mensen uit het vak, waaronder ook Rob Winter (de gitarist van Marco Borsato).
Op 24 Mei 2008 vind deze finale van The Band Challenge plaats in de Azijnfabriek te Roermond. De entree is vrij, en de zaal gaat open vanaf 20:00 uur. Naast de vier deelnemende bands zal de bekende rockformatie MENNEN een speciaal gast optreden verzorgen! Van Mennen verschijnt dit weekend het nieuwe album “ Planet Black” en onlangs trad ,net als Joss ex-Zinatra, gitarist Gino Rerimassie tot de band toe en zal op deze avond voor het eerst na 15 jaar weer met Joss Mennen het podium betreden.

The winner of this year Wacken Metal Battle is RIPSAW. Again the jury had a difficult job to do, for the quality of the bands was, as last year very high. RIPSAW will climb the sold out WACKEN FESTIVAL to fight against the rest of the world to battle for a record deal at WACKEN RECORDS. We wish RIPSAW a lot of success!

Ready for the release of the new MENNEN album “Planet Black” (European release 26-5-2008) the band announces that guitarist Eric van de Kerkhof has been replaced by ex-ZINATRA guitarist GINO RERIMASSIE. 15 years since Zinatra split up; Gino and vocalist JOSS MENNEN will be back on stage again together!!!
With “the return” of Gino, the band claims that they will adjust the setlist as well for the upcoming tour. This will be a pleasant mix of old Zinatra classics and Mennen songs.
“I hope we will fulfill the wish of a lot of people, who were asking for a Zinatra reunion for many years this way by playing some old Zinatra tunes during our show“, says an enthusiastic Joss Mennen. |

After months of seaching, we found our man. Bart Keltjens. Yes, it's definitive. Bart has been busy as Novaddiction's drummer for years now. Being a musical and ambitious person, he could not say no when asked to come to audition for the job of EXIT31's drummer. It has not been easy, we took on 15 drummers, all with their own skills and styles. The hard task of finding the right person(ality) was a nerve wrecking one. And Bart was working double shifts for 2 months, as he was playing in 2 bands at the same time - not knowing if it would all work out. But at the end of the day..... Bart passed the test with flying colours! Making him sweat before telling him that he was the "chosen" one will be forever branded in his mind. In the coming time, Bart and Florian will be working side by side to bring the essential EXIT31 drumsound beyond perfection. Of course, Florian will still remain our drummer until bart is ready. Our plan to go to America this year for a 3-week tour and further album recordings is on, and we are glad to say that Bart is doing his very best to get ready for some exciting, serious work in the States! It was a secret for a long time, but now it is official. Drummer Atomic Steiff (ex-Sodom, ex-Living Death, Stahlträger) returns back to HOLY MOSES after 15 years. We talked with Sabina on the phone and she told to us: “I am totally happy that Steiff is back in the band. After all chaos with wrong drummers for the band we have now a real thrash/death metal drummer back to HOLY MOSES. Somebody who is a totally into metal, is behind the special kind of music we are doing and he understands the spirit of HOLY MOSES. We are right now in the rehearsals for the new album. We are already rehearsing in the studio and in our rehearsing room and we are writing together with Olli on bass, Michi on guitars and Steif on drums on the new material. I am so happy….after a long time…!”
HOLY MOSES and famous Roax Films are working on visual images for the first official HOLY MOSES video-clip since 1989. Sabina choose the title "End Of Time" from the last album "Strength Power Will Passion". For the second time in the history of the band (first time was in 1989, for the New Machine Of Liechtenstein album) the band decided to do an official clip. HOLY MOSES will use parts taken from their live recordings and backstage scenes. The video is with the new line up working right now in the studio for a new album with: Sabina: vocals, Michael: guitars, Olli: bass and: Atomic: drums. |

EVIDENCE ONE
German melodic metalheads EVIDENCE ONE just signed a contract with AFM Records. The follow up for the critically acclaimed “Tattooed Heart” album will be released on June 22. Proud of the new material, the band named the album “The Sky Is The Limit”. As usual produced and written by Robby Böbel, the album brings in guitar wizard Jörg “Warthy” Warthmann, who followed in the footsteps of the aforementioned Böbel. Böbel from now on decided to focus more on the producing and songwriting side of the business. The band will also work together with LowLife Media (Masterplan, Primal Fear, Exodus a.o.) to shoot a videoclip of the titletrack “The Sky Is The Limit”. Watch out for several festival appearances of EVIDENCE ONE this summer!. |

Sunday Feb. 4 – 2007 in “De Bosuil” Weert (NL) the final battle between the last six contenders of the Dutch Metal Battle 2007 took place. It was a hard job for the jury but a winner had to be chosen. MYTHLORIAN (http://www.mythlorian.nl) finally came out for being the one that will fight on the mighty Wacken Open Air stage against the rest of the European winners. First of all we want to congratulate MYTHLORIAN for winning the battle and we wish them a lot of luck for the final chapter at W:O:A 2007. |

Guitar player and producer Tommy Newton (VICTORY) had a heart attack earlier this week. He's on the better hand, but still in hospital. Locomotive Records will release the last anthem of DIMEBAG DARRELL called "Rebel Meets Rebel" on 16th February 2007 in Europe. Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul, along with Pantera bassist Rex Brown, calling themselves the "COWBOYS FROM HELL" joined forces with hardcore country iconoclast David Allen Coe for what would come to be known as Rebel Meets Rebel. Captured at odd and off periods in each entity’s recording and touring schedule beginning 1998, this wild child hybrid is a labor of love, passion and shared good times. With thrashing down strokes, intricate solos and Coe’s far-flung vocal attack, this is a seamless musical synthesis that exists beyond the realm of any genre, format or label. That’s what makes this one of the most exciting projects to come down the pike in a long, long time. "We’ve got a lot of rock and Southern rock in it," Paul says. "ZZ Top to Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Sabbath, Zeppelin to Hank Jr. and David’s stuff, of course. It was just a wide, open playing field. Here's October 25, 2006 - San Diego power metal band BENEDICTUM have parted ways with drummer Blackie Sanchez due to musical differences. "We wish Blackie the best of luck in his future endeavors - we had some great times together but over the last few months it became apparent that we were moving in different directions", said the band in an official statement. "We are happy to announce that we have found an awesome new drummer named Paul Courtois who we've been jamming with and things have never been better. We're gelling beautifully on a musical level and we're having more fun than ever; we're currently in the early pre-production stages for our second album and already working up a batch of new tunes with Paul. We'll be heading up to L.A. shortly to meet up with our producer, Jeff Pilson, and get the ball rolling with a view toward tracking in February." On the live front, BENEDICTUM have been forced to drop out of the re-scheduled Monterrey Metal Fest in Mexico due to scheduling conflicts but are heading back over to Europe for a December tour with German metal goddess DORO. "I'm a huge fan and I can't wait it meet her so this tour is like a dream come true for me" states BENEDICTUM vocalist Veronica Freeman. "We're looking forward to getting back to Italy, Holland, and Belgium, and we're totally stoked to finally be able to play for the fans in Germany which we didn't get a chance to last summer. In only 2 years the W:O:A Metal Battle has built itself to the biggest talent contest for Metal bands of all styles. This is still not enough. The international section is also growing and becoming more important. Not just with the success Lordi had at the Eurovision Song Contest, but even before, it has been shown that the Metal community knows no boundaries. Now, alongside France, Switzerland, Italy, Finland, Brazil & Belgium, the Metal Battle 2007 has new participants from Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro & …. The international competition is growing and growing. The final for the Metal Battle 2007 will once again take place at the Wacken Open Air festival. Conditions of participation 2007:
- You don’t have a contract with a label and you’re not about to sign a deal in the near future.
- You can play a set of at least 30 minutes consisting of your own songs.

While MENNEN was ready to hit the stage at Red Cheetah's Courtyard / Cincinnati / USA, an outdoor stage, Dutch rockers EXIT 31 had to stop their show immediately when heavy showers took them by surprise. Artists, crew and crowd had to run for shelter! Unfortunately all the shows for the Friday evening on the outdoor stage had to be cancelled. Later the news announced certain deadly injured victims caused by this storm in Kentucky. The Midpoint organization worked their ass off but unfortunately didn't succeed in replacing all the bands, but for MENNEN resulting in a slot on Saturday-evening to close down the Midpoint Festival in style at Jekyll & Hyde. After the release of the latest Cruachan album "Pagan" and the split with their old record label, the band signed a contract with the german label AFM Records. The new album "The Morrigan's Call" will be released on November, 17th. Even more as on their latest album, the band shows their ability to mix different influences without killing the Heaviness of the songs. The band as well as the AFM team is looking forward to do a great job together.

10 Years after the very first Perzonal War show in October 1996, lots of shows, festivals, touring with a.o. Destruction, Candlemass, Blaze and Circle II Circle as well as 5 Studio albums, the band would like to thank everyone with a special live show on the: October 13th - 2006 at "Brückenforum" in Bonn-Beuel. The band will play a 2 hours best of show which will include songs of every album as well as some songs from the very beginning which they never played live so far.
